Team: Scarecrow Builders
About Our Scarecrow: I wanted to build a fox scarecrow. I thought it would scare the birds away. Also I read Fantastic Mr Fox so I thought I should make one like him. When we were looking for some foxes on the Internet before we started we saw a quote from the movie that I thought we should make a sign out of. It says “we are all different but there is something fantastic about that isn’t there?” We made it with some orange fabric Mum had and a jacket we brought from the Red Cross shop. We stuffed him with old pillows.
Foxy can be found on Landscape Road

LEGO BANANA GUY
Team: The guys who went BANANAS!
About Our Scarecrow: Well, we started with the traditional scarecrow design with sacking head filled with straw, but when we discussed what character we wanted to do, George said “hey, let’s do the banana guy”, so we researched the Lego Banana Guy (or is it the Lego Banana Man?), and came up with a design. The next step was to send dad out to the local business recycling bins, and he came back with some large plastic sheets. These made the banana guy’s body and arms, and his hands are made out of the inside part of a roll of tape cut in half. We then found an old pair of Jack’s tracksuit pants and filled them with plastic bags from the recycling bin, and now he had some legs. He then got a fresh coat of spray paint, and lego banana guy was re-born. Traditional inside, with a flash new exterior. Lots of fun had by all. Lego Banana Guy can be found on Grotto St, Onehunga
STRAWBERRY GUARDIAN ANGEL
Team: Hope Star
About Our Scarecrow: This is my first time to make a scarecrow. I was very excited and talked about my plan with mom. She helped me get some bamboo sticks and we made its body together. I painted on a paper facial mask and tried to make it a pretty girl face like me. I also give “her” my clothes and hat. I hope she can protect the strawberries from naughty birds in our garden.
The Angel can be found on Warren Ave.

Team: MC Jackson
About Our Scarecrow: A late entry, but hes up! Xavier and DJ thought having a tribute to a famous musician would be the perfect scarecrow.
About Our Scarecrow: We own a blueberry orchard up north, so Max wanted to make a scarecrow that looked angry and mean, to scare away any birds that want to pick and eat our blueberries, as he wants to take Fred up north once he has shown him to his school.
Team: The Rock N'Rollers
About Our Scarecrow: Cool Jewel is a rock star!!
