Competition Rules
Registration: Please complete the registration form in full. When you are registered your team will be given a registration number.
Eligibility: The Scarecrow Contest is for primary school aged children, and the majority of children in each team should come from Three Kings School. In the interests of fairness, adult involvement should be kept to a minimum (we suggest that younger children team up with some of the more senior students) Materials: Scarecrows may be subjected to rain and wind, and should be durable with everything securely attached. You can use any materials to make your scarecrow, but electricity, glass and open flames are not to be used. A wooden stake will be secured in the ground to which your scarecrow should be attached. . Size Limitation: Scarecrow displays may be between 1.5 and 2 metres. Restrictions: Scarecrows must be in good taste and family friendly. The TKS Scarecrow Festival Committee could restrict your entry if it is not deemed family friendly. We may use photographs of scarecrows and their entrants for publicity and promotions. Signage: The location of the Scarecrow will be published as a part of the Scarecrow Trail map. We may provide a sign that can be displayed with the scarecrow, and these may include a sponsorship logo. Judging: Scarecrows will be judged in each of the three prize categories by the Judging Panel. The guidelines for the prize categories are as follows: |
Eco-Friendly
This award goes to the scarecrow that best demonstrates the principle of Reduce-Reuse-Recycle. Most Creative This prize will be awarded to the most creative and unusual idea for a scarecrow. Junior Team Your team is eligible for the Junior Prize if you have only Year 1 - 3 students in it. In addition, all scarecrows are eligible for the People’s Choice Award – voting will be open to the general public via a ballot box at school, or online. Note: the winning scarecrow in this category will be displayed within the school until the end of the school year. Delivery and Set-up of Entries: Where possible, scarecrows should be on display and available for judging) throughout the Trail period. For safe keeping, we suggest scarecrows are stored inside overnight. Scarecrows must be delivered to Three Kings School on the Spring Festival Day so that they are on hand when the winners are announced. Scarecrow Disposal: At the conclusion of the Festival Day, teams are responsible for removing their scarecrow from the school grounds and making arrangements for its disposal (or otherwise). |
